Father, last night in my connect group, they were talking about the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. Lord, I don’t understand this thing, is it from You? Why do people covet this thing. Lord, if it is what they say, and if it is from You, I want to know. Your Word in the Holy Scriptures talks about tongues in a different context, but people seek this thing to make them seem more spiritual. Lord help me to understand. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus.

Dear Child of God, I stand with you in your prayers for knowledge of the Holy Spirit’s gift of speaking in tongues. Lord Jesus, thank You for N. I thank You that N is seeking You regarding speaking in tongues. We read In Your Word that You told the disciples to wait until they had received the power from on high which is the Holy Spirit. They were all together In one room and the Holy Spirit can like a powerful wind bringing the power that had been promised and they all spoke in tongues. As they preached in the power of the Holy Spirit each man could hear the words in their own language. Thank You Lord that the power of the Holy Spirit is still being given to us today bringing Your boldness and strength to Your people. We read in Your Word that when we run out of our own words to speak to You the Holy Spirit enables us to communicate with You in a heavenly language by speaking in tongues. Your power is released into our lives through speaking in tongues. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit. We also read about interpretation of tongues which is when the power of the Holy Spirit speaks through a person to an assembled body of believers and then the meaning of the message is given through a Holy Spirit filled interpreter. This is for the building up and edifying of the church. We are told in Scripture that this should be done only when there is an anointed interpreter present. Lord, I pray that as N learns all about the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues that N will seek Godly guidance from the minister and look forward to receiving this wonderful gift from You. I pray that N will be overwhelmed by Your love and in that place of intimate worship with You the power of the Holy Spirit will bestow upon N His gift of tongues. May N be enriched by Your Holy Spirit and bring glory and honour to You and the church body. Amen .
