Deepa, I pray that God will do great things in your marriage and use you together, as an example to many other couples.
As wives, it is tempting to wait for our husbands to change, and get frustrated because it happens too slowly.
As someone who has been married for more than 50 years I have learnt a lot, the hard way, waiting for my husband to change without realising that I had some changing to do also.
We women need to feel loved, but men need to feel respected.
In Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians 5:21-33, there are verses that have been seriously misunderstood, but there is also some profound, very helpful wisdom for marriage.
Ask God to fill you with His understanding of your husband’s needs, and look for opportunities to show that you respect him. My experience is that if he feels that you appreciate his strengths, he will want to be more loving and affectionate to you. Any man who feels like he is failing in his wife’s opinion, will be tempted to withdraw.
If this all seems too hard, remember that God knows and loves you both, and wants to bless you through each other.
I pray that you will be able to acknowledge his strengths and that, in turn, he will show you the love you need. Our God is able to bless you both in this way. I pray that you will be filled with God’s wisdom and love, so that you be God’s instrument in blessing Pradeep
