God, Change My Patterns Of Behaviour

Please pray that God would remove the cycle and pattern of abuse in my bloodline/ DNA for the choosing of abusers as a spouse. Please pray that God would remove the familiar spirit of abuse in my bloodline. My mother married my biological father (he was divorced), not knowing he had a history of domestic violence. My biological father beat his first wife so badly that she was disfigured. That same abuse continued when my mother married my biological father, and he continued to be emotionally, financially and physically abusive towards my mother, my sister and me.

As an adult, I nearly started a relationship with a man who also happened to be divorced, and he was also emotionally abusive towards me. He was a narcissist, just like my biological father. Thankfully, the relationship did not work out and ended before it started. When I met him, I thought he was “the one” as I sensed a familiarity that I did not realise was similar to my abusive father, but it was actually a trauma bond.
